Nothing quite beats a greasy burger and fries. If done right, a good quality meat patty, melted cheese, and the right combination of toppings can feel like a gourmet meal. Have a burger craving but not sure where to go? We have the answers for you with the best seven burgers in Canada.

1. Mamo Burger Bar (Windsor, Ontario) - Daddy Mac

In lists of the top burgers in Canada, Mamo Burger Bar almost always takes a spot. This casual burger spot warns its customers that you might have to wait longer than you're used to for your burger, but that's because it's never cooked from frozen and has to be prepared fresh. Mamo's also only uses local beef raised free from steroids, hormones, and antibiotics.

The burger we have to talk about is the Daddy Mac. This indulgent burger comes topped with mac-and-cheese, smoked pulled pork, and caramelized onions! It will have you drooling as soon as you see it.

We also have to shout out their Pickle Back burger, which comes with a beef patty, cheddar cheese, bacon, ten pickles, pickle aioli, lettuce, onions, pickled jalapenos, dill pickle chips, and a deep-fried pickle spear on top.

Mamo Burger offers delicious burgers that are creative and fun and we can see why it makes top burger lists year after year.

2. Burger Factory (Mississauga, Ontario) - The Compressor

Burger Factory is a casual spot that has taken a less-than-casual approach to its burgers. This restaurant now has several locations and has gained local notoriety for its amazing burgers. All burgers are made with fresh premium beef that's ground in-house daily.

Our favorite burger here is one of pure indulgence. The Compressor is a 15-ounce triple cheeseburger with classic toppings of onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and all served on a fresh bun. This burger is massive, decadent, and perfectly cooked.

Another honorable mention is the Flaming Hot Cheetos Chicken burger. Why not get both and share with a friend?

3.  Lizard’s Bar & Grill (Sarnia, Ontario) - The Poutineburg

Canada’s national dish is poutine, so of course, there would be a poutine burger on this list. Lizard’s Bar & Grill is a casual spot in Ontario that makes a killer burger with poutine as a topping. The burger is topped with garlic aioli, shoestring fries, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and smothered in mozzarella and beef gravy. And yes - you read that right - fries are a topping in the burger! This is one burger you have to try!

4. The Red Accordion (Vancouver, BC) - The TRA Burger

The Red Accordion in Vancouver, British Columbia, is a farm-to-table restaurant serving up fresh dishes with a modern twist. While the whole menu is impressive, it's their TRA Burger that captures our attention. The burger is made entirely in-house, from a burger patty ground in the kitchen and fresh buns baked every morning. You get a large beef patty made of Canadian-raised wagyu ground check topped with mozzarella, Havarti, sun-dried tomato and roasted garlic aioli, black pepper and maple bacon, arugula, tomato, pickled red onion, all on a brioche bun. This burger is on the pricey side, but it's worth the price tag.

5. Hambrgr (Hamilton, Ontario) - The Biggie Mac

Hambrgr’s mission is to give its customers “the best damn burger they’ve ever eaten” using fresh ingredients and fun combinations. And, let’s be clear, order any burger from Hambrgr, and you’re in for a large, impressive treat. However, it’s The Biggie Mac burger that takes things really over-the-top. The Biggie Mac comes with two ¼ lb patties, American cheese, grilled onions, burger sauce, and iceberg lettuce. But the best part? Instead of your traditional burger buns, this burger comes sandwiched in between two grilled cheese buns! Hambrgr took the concept of a Big Mac and gave it a major upgrade.

6. Boogie’s Burgers (Calgary, Alberta) - Doug’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” Burger

Boogie's Burgers is run by two friends who love simple burgers done right. What started as a small burger shop in 1969 now has two locations, became a staple in Calgary, and won numerous awards.

We love their pizza burger (which includes fried mushrooms, pepperoni, pizza sauce, and mozzarella), but it's Doug's Burger that stands out. This meal isn't for those with a small stomach. You get four beef patties, four pieces of bacon, a butterflied beef Weiner, two slices of cheddar cheese, a fried egg, homemade burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion. And, as if that wasn't enough, it's all topped with a mini corndog! You'll definitely get the meat sweats with this one!

7. Burgers n’ Fries Forever (Toronto, Canada) - The American

Burgers n' Fries Forever (BFF) opened in 2013 and has a passion for what it calls "burgerology." For BFF, burgerology starts and ends with making burgers right. This includes using patties made from fresh AAA Angus halal custom beef blend, sourcing fresh ingredients, and making fries that are hand-cut and double-fried.

We love BFF's take on the classic American burger. It's nothing crazy; it's just a classic burger done absolutely well. You get a beef patty, caramelized onions, pickles, cheddar cheese, ketchup, and mustard. If you are looking for something a little more exciting, BFF has that too. They continuously release burgers of the month. In the last few months, that's included a Po'Boy Burger and a Spicy Korean Chicken Burger. Whether you want a classic or something innovative, BFF won't disappoint.
