Cruises have been locked down since March’s “No Sail Order” was produced, but a big decision on whether that will change is scheduled to be announced this week. The no sail order issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) expires on Wednesday, September 30, and US-based cruise lines are hoping that new restrictions won’t be put in place.
Cruise lines in Europe have been given the go ahead to sail, but their US counterparts are still in port. As of today, ships greater than 250 passengers are not allowed to set sail in the USA.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) released a health and safety plan on behalf of its members, as did Royal Caribbean/Norwegian who released their own separate plan outlining 74 steps they’d take to guarantee passenger safety.
