Portland’s Ace Hotel occupies the former home of the Clyde Hotel. It’s actually listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 3. Sagamore Pendry – Baltimore, MD

Sagamore Pendry occupies the Recreation Pier, a landmark building in Fell’s Point, that was left empty for nearly two decades before reopening as the Pendry.

4. The Hermosa Inn – Paradise Valley, AZ

Artist Lon Megargee created the Hermosa Inn in the 1930s as a getaway spot for his friends before opening its doors to outside guests.

Today, the resort boasts 43 hacienda-style casitas. Lon’s, the on-site restaurant, features New American cuisine made with Southwestern techniques. Try the Himalayan salt-seared Ahi Tuna and pair it with one of the more than 500 wines in the cellar.
